After graduation she worked in retail as a sales associate at Ann Taylor and Borders Stores. In 2010, Christen served as a Young Adult Service Corps Missionary to Nagoya, Japan and spent a year supporting various ministries of the Anglican Diocese of Chubu. The Rev. Hal Edmonson
The Rev. Hal Edmonson has served as the curate (Episcopal Church lingo for newly-ordained clergy) at Epiphany Parish since August 2022. He was lifted up in the ordination process by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookline, MA, was ordained to the transitional diaconate by The Rt. Rev. Alan M. Gates on June 4, 2022, and ordained to the priesthood by the Rt. Rev. Gayle E. Harris on February 4th, 2023.
Originally from Wisconsin, Hal became a New England transplant via Minnesota, many years teaching in rural Japan, and an extended trek backpacking through monasteries in Europe before finally landing in Massachusetts. He received a B.A. in Religion from Carleton College, and an M.Div from Harvard Divinity School. During his theological studies, Hal became fascinated by the scientific and ethical questions that surround critical and end-of-life care, and ultimately discerned that he had an additional vocation as a physician as well as a priest. He serves at Epiphany on a very part-time basis, and during the week trades his collar and stole—in the material sense, that is—for scrubs and a stethoscope as a student at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School.
Hal and his wife Erin live in nearby Sharon, MA, and can often be found trail running in the Moose Hill Preserve, perfecting new soup recipes, and day-dreaming about building a house out of shipping containers.
Despite his limited and erratic hours at Epiphany, Hal is available to you in confidence on any pastoral matter. He can be reached via the parish office.
