Youth GroupsThe Youth Groups are open to the youth of our parish who are entering
the eighth grade through the twelfth grade. Our intentions for this group
are fun and fellowship and it is our hope that we can teach these young
adults the importance of their Christian values through various group
activities, discussions and outings. The adult leaders are Amanda Logan
and George Ford. The Youth Groups meet bi-weekly through the school year and are planning a variety of activities and projects. We hope to be able to join with the youth groups of other parishes to do such things as feeding the homeless in Boston and participating in a Habitat for Humanity building project. Students are encouraged to bring friends to our meetings and activities. Family AdoptionIt's official: the Youth Groups have adopted a family! Through an organization called "Family to Family" our young people have adopted Bridget Alexis and her 2 year old baby boy Gavin as part of our Church family. They have committed 3 to 6 months (or beyond) to send care packages to help this young family that has lost everything to the effects of hurricane Katrina. The first care package (gift certificates) was sent just before christmas, hoping to bring a little holiday cheer to people less fortunate. We will continue to stay in contact with Bridget by sending useful gifts each month. Youth Group ScoopThe Dessert Auction was a wonderful success. The Youth Group members did an awesome job of showcasing the many delectable treats that were donated. Parishoners were more than generous with the money that was called out as the endless array of desserts were circulated around the room. Thank you to all! What a joy it was! More than $700 was collected. Most of this money is earmarked for the Youth Group ski trip. Thanks again, one and all!!! New Youth Program - Velocity!Have you seen the new "Velocity" trailer? George Ford has played the 2 minute clip for adults and high school youth. It is an excellent program, offered to grades 9 - 12, during the church service. The DVD based program will take place in one of the newly renovated rooms. The first video will be shown on October 9th. A schedule of topics can be obtained from George Ford. We hope that the youth and parents will be as excited about this new offering as we are! . |
