Our Rector, The Reverend Alan R. Hesse

Father Alan has been with Epiphany Parish since September 2005. Ordained in 2001, Alan previously served as the Associate Rector of All Saints Church, Worcester, MA. Alan is a graduate of Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa and received his Master of Divinity from Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA.  Prior to ordained ministry, Alan worked in television, radio, and public relations in Iowa and California.  Alan lives with his spouse Tim and their son William in Walpole. Alan loves cooking, gardening and spending time canoeing and kayaking.  He is an elected member of the Diocesan Council of the Episcopal Diocese of  Massachusetts.  He is also a board member of the Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center.  He can be reached at Fralan@verizon.net.   

 

The Reverend Rebecca Black was ordained in the Diocese of MA as Deacon in 2000, then as priest in 2001 by The Rt. Rev. Barbara C. Harris, and is the only woman ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Harris. She has served parishes in Quincy, Charlestown, Framingham, and was most recently Rector of St. Paul's in Millis.  She was Regional Coordinator for The Clothesline Project, and Co-Chair of the Diocesan Joint Grants Committee.

 

The Rev. Rebecca became interested in issues of Faith and Autism while a parishioner at Christ Church in Quincy. When her son was diagnosed with Asperger's (High-functioning Autism), she began to educate herself about Spectrum issues. She founded and still coordinates a network of support for parents of newly diagnosed Autistic children, and assist with an Asperger Social Skills group in Franklin.

 

Rebecca has been named by the Diocese as Consultant to the Rhythms of Grace program (www.ASpecialGrace.com) , developing ministries of worship and advocacy for folks on the Autism Spectrum. In addition, she is owner and President of The WebRev, offering web design services to such clients as SkillBott Training, Academic & Collegiate Software, and ExchangeGuy Consulting. She has two children: Kip (14) and Valerie (9) and blogs and speaks about advocacy, faith and issues of the Autistic Spectrum community.

 

Music Director, Nancy Wakefield

Choirs are open to youth and adults who provide musical leadership for congregational singing in the worship of the church.  The primary role of the choir is to lead and support the congregations worship through singing.  All are welcome to join.  If you are interested please contact Nancy Wakefield at 508-668-2353.

The Vestry

The Vestry is a committee elected by the congregation to work with the church wardens in managing the temporal affairs of the church.  This committee is charged with property management as well as fiduciary administration and human resource responsibilities. These members have accepted a call to lead the congregation to a closer relationship to God. Vestry members are elected by the Church membership and serve for three year terms.  Elections occur at the congregation’s annual meeting.  The work of the vestry is done in partnership with the Rector. The vestry meets the third Tuesday of each month. 

 

Senior Warden - The Senior Warden is an elected member of the Vestry.  He/she serves as an advisor to the Rector and as a leader to the Vestry and to the congregation.  The responsibilities of the Senior Warden include communicating regularly with the Rector and providing leadership and support to the Rector and congregation. 

 

Junior Warden - The Junior Warden is an elected member of the Vestry.  He/she serves to assist the Rector and Sr. Warden in providing leadership to the Vestry and congregation. The Jr. Warden is also responsible for property maintenance.  Responsibilities of the Jr. Warden include; chairing the Property Committee, meeting regularly with the Rector and Senior Warden, attending Vestry meetings and working closely with the Rector and Senior Warden in providing overall leadership in the congregation. 

 

Clerk - The Clerk is a member of the Vestry and is responsible for taking notes during Vestry meetings and preparing and distributing the minutes, and correspondence for the Vestry.  The Clerk is also responsible to maintain a file of all Vestry meetings and taking minutes for the annual meeting.

 

Treasurer - The Treasurer is elected by the congregation and is accountable to the Rector and the Vestry.  The Treasurer is charged with the oversight of collections and deposits, the payment of bills, and the monthly generation of accounting reports.  He/she is the chair of the Finance Committee and is responsible for the development of budgets, meeting regularly with the Rector and Wardens for planning and evaluation, and filing the yearly audits.
